Over last 2 years, significant developments in the Smartphone space have changed the way people access content. Sports being one of the largest content consumed over the internet, we turned to Smartphone data received from our On Device Meter to check for differences, if any, that exist across geographical regions.

Interestingly, our data reveals that India leads the Sports category penetration. US follow next where we see 1 in every 10 Smartphone users accessing the category. Similarly in the APAC region, while Thailand has the highest category exposure, Indonesia leads on engagements with a time spent of 8 mins per day amongst users of Sport apps.

As could be predicted, the top three applications in India were based on Cricket while in the South East Asia region of Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, apps that provided for scores and updates on Soccer were more popular.
