Tesla Inc TSLA is giving Canadian customers more reasons to choose the Model Y with the introduction of a rebate eligible Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant featuring lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.
The move not only makes the Model Y RWD more accessible, but also unlocks the $5,000 iZEV rebate for the Model Y Long Range in Canada.

The new Model Y RWD is priced at $59,990 and offers a range of 394 km (245 miles), a top speed of 217 km/h (135 mph), and a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds. As shared by DriveTeslaCanada, sources have confirmed that this new variant is equipped with LFP batteries, the same as the Model 3 RWD. The Model Y RWD is currently only available with a black interior.
With its price point qualifying for the $5,000 iZEV incentive, the federal requirements also allow other higher trims of the same vehicle priced up to $70,000 to be eligible. This means that the Long Range variant, priced at $69,990, can now also benefit from a $5,000 discount on its purchase price.
Deliveries for the new Model Y RWD are expected to start in June or July, and Tesla is anticipating a high volume of orders within the first week.
