    GULFPORT, Miss., April 21, 2023 (Newswire.com)
    –
Join the Port of Gulfport and Mississippi Secretary of Agriculture and Commerce Mr. Andy Gipson in learning about the future of multi-temperature cold storage and distribution solutions coming to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, via the Port of Gulfport.

On May 18, 2023, the Port will host a Lunch & Learn event to educate current and potential partners on the value and opportunities surrounding bringing a new cold storage facility to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Attendees will hear from Mississippi Secretary of Agriculture and Commerce Mr. Andy Gipson, as well as Jon Nass, the CEO & Executive Director of the Port of Gulfport. Other local and state elected officials will be present to lend support and learn more about the economic impact such a facility is expected to bring to the area.

The proposed multiple-temperature storage and distribution facility will fill a tremendous gap in the need for cold storage on the central Gulf Coast. Located just minutes from the Deepwater Port, the 38-acre site will be phased in with an initial 100,000 sq. ft. multi-temperature facility. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet the needs of today and well into the future.

This Lunch & Learn is a ticketed event, sponsored by Mississippi Power, Weston, Inc., Sterling Solutions, and QuickFreeze by Tippmann Engineering. Limited seating is available, so contact us today to secure your spot to learn more about how this exciting addition on the Gulf Coast could benefit your business. To request more information or express interest, email info@shipmspa.com or call 228-865-4300.

    About the Port of Gulfport

Established in 1902, the Mississippi State Port Authority at Gulfport is primed for growth after a $1 billion restoration project reached completion in 2022. The Port of Gulfport recently signed an agreement with Ports America, the nation’s largest stevedoring company, which includes an additional $43 million investment into the development of a currently vacant terminal on the Port, including the purchase of a new crane.

The Port of Gulfport is centrally located on the Gulf of Mexico, with easy access to Interstate 10, excellent rail connections, and the ability to service a majority of the US market within 24 hours. As the second largest U.S. importer of green fruit, Gulfport offers a strong market for refrigerated cargo, with established weekly vessel calls from Central America and thriving domestic and international business connections.
