Data usage on SmartPhones provides for a classic tug of war between subscribers and service providers. At one end subscribers try to keep a tab and optimize their data usage to avoid hefty charges, while service providers on the other end, are quick with offers to entice subscribers to using more data.

While not all activities consume data, Data centric apps or online activities constitute a sizeable share of time spent on SmartPhones. Our on-device mobile measurement data shows that an average SmartPhone user spends around 2 hours on these genres - be it updating their social status, watching videos, chatting, shopping etc.
