At one point SMS took the entire globe by storm and became the most popular way of communicating. However now with proliferation of SmartPhones, users have plethora of means to communicate with each other. Users in South Asia seem to be completely hooked on to Chat / Instant Messaging apps. Whereas consumers in US are more traditional – they spend 2x and 4x time on calls and SMSes respectively as compared to an average user in South Asia.
