On April 23, Groupon added a search feature to its mobile app to help customers find deals that are most relevant to them. This is a significant addition to Grouponís mobile strategy to get more users to the app rather than relying on emailed deals. A recent study by Juniper research indicates that the number of discount coupons redeemed through mobile and tablet devices is expected to reach 10 billion this year, up by more than 50% on last year. This week we take a look at how usage of Mobile Coupons has evolved in the last year.
Our on-device measurement data shows that reach of Mobile Coupons has grown from 28% (Mar. í12) to 48% this year, a growth of 171%. Currently Groupon is the most popular Mobile Coupon app with a reach of 12%.
