The Daily Deals company, Groupon, introduced another standalone mobile application named ‘Getaways’ last week to help users find discounted travel packages. This is an addition to last month’s launch of ‘Snap’, which helps to avail discounts/cash-backs on grocery purchases. Groupon believes that Travel is its fastest growing business category and is hopeful that ‘Getaways’ will place them up against the top players already present.

With ‘Travel’ as the theme, we decided to compare the usage of Travel apps amongst our iOS and Android panelists from the US in our this week’s newsletter. As per the data, it is observed that the category has a low Reach on both platforms. While iOS users are the most engaged, we see a clear differentiation in the apps used.
